Whidbey Island and Coupeville

Whether you travel from international ports or from within the United States to the northwest to your Puget Sound destination, the beauty of your journey will fasinate. The islands scattered between Seattle, Vancouver Island and British Columbia, are the “jewels” in the northwest crown. Whidbey, Camano, Lummi and the San Juan islands by land or water offer an unparalleled visual feast. Discover miles of driftwood beaches, the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges, sustainable farming on bucolic land, historical sites, and the local charming communities. These communities are dedicated to preserving the past by monitoring and guiding development so that all that is so precious may continue to remain unspoiled for all to share.

Travel by ferry from Mukilteo, north of Seattle, across usually quiet waters to visit many distinct locations. Many of these locations include the Victorian Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula; access the north side of Whidbey Island by bridge from Deception Pass; the port town of Anacortes; the tulip fields and orchards of La Conner and Mount Vernon; and snow-tipped Mount Baker. Whidbey Island is thirty-six miles long and ten miles wide. Coupeville is about midway on the island, located on Penn Cove, parallel to the Ebey Land Reserve, between two wonderful beaches, both with breathtaking water views. Once a seaport, and one of the oldest towns in Washington, the county museum will fascinate and attest to Coupeville's history. Stroll the historic waterfront and visit it's antique stores, quaint boutiques, art galleries, and fine and casual dining — all will sustain and delight you.

A trip to the area cemetery may be an unusual but interesting destination. Nearby Oak Harbor is the proud home of the Whidbey Island Navy Station.
